Hu Sanniang is one of the female characters in the Water Margin. She is also called Yizhangqing, or ‘Ten Feet of Blue’. This refers to her two sabres, with which she would take on several attackers at the same time. Hu Sanniang is here depicted juggling three balls. Behind her you can just see the hilt and tip of one of her sabres.

    Bord van porselein beschilderd op het glazuur in blauw, rood, groen, geel, zwart en goud. Op de voorzijde één vrouw en twee mannen uit het boek The Water Margin: Yizhangqing, Yang Xiong en Li Zhong. Zij vullen vrijwel het hele oppervlak dat verder wit is gelaten. Famille verte.
