Apollino

Francesco Righetti, 1781

The young Apollo is one of twelve figures that Amsterdam banker and art collector Henry Hope commissioned Righetti to make for his estate Welgelegen near Haarlem. They were all lead copies modelled on Ancient examples, and originally painted white to resemble the marble originals.
