Albert Bauduin (left) and Theodorus Kroes

attributed to Antoon Bauduin, 1862 - 1866

Among the few people we can identify in these photos is Theodorus Kroes (1822-1889). Born in Dordrecht, like the Bauduins, the men were good friends and occasionally visited each other. As an agent of the Nederlandse Handel-Maatschappij in the Chinese port city of Shanghai, Kroes and Albert were also colleagues.
