Tea caddy. Japan, central Honshû, Seto. Second half of 15th, early 16th century. Stoneware, Seto ware.Tea was kept in caddies such as this. They contained exactly enough for one round of tea. The caddy was kept in a bag and revealed at an appropriate moment. Westendorp bequest.

    Stoftheebus of chaire van steengoed met een ivoren deksel, gedeeltelijk bedekt met een bruin glazuur. Het onderste deel van de bus is ongeglazuurd. Oud label aan de binnenzijde met 'ko seto'. Seto.
