Kleurtekening van een groeisel door de tekenaar gevonden op Java in de vorm van een kelk met een steel. Met opschrift. Onderdeel uit het schetsboek van Jan Brandes, dl. 2 (1808), p. 105.

• inscription: ‘Oost Indische Fungus of uitwas van een boom of uit de aarde, gezien in Batavia den 20 Maji 1785. Was zeer ligt, even als graauw papier, drie voet hoog, van binnen rond en hol als een kelk. Ik denk hierby aan de wonderboom van Jonas: in de fransche bybel staat kikajon of cucajon.
