A neutral facial expression, shot from the front, can often seem unremarkable. However, by fragmenting the image, the photographer introduced diagonal lines, creating a sense of movement and energy. The use of diagonals is common in advertising, infusing dynamism into the composition. Moreover, advertisements are typically easy to ‘read,’ allowing the viewer to quickly identify the product being sold – although that is less apparent here.
