Frequently Asked Questions

  • We open our doors for you every day of the year from 9am to 5pm, including all public holidays.

    The Rijksmuseum shop and The Café are open from 9 am to 6 pm. They are accessible only with a museum entrance ticket until 5 pm. Between 5 pm and 6 pm, you can enter without an entrance ticket.

    RIJKS restaurant is open for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday and for dinner from Tuesday to Sunday. The Rijksmuseum gardens are open from 9 am to 6 pm.

  • As long as you like, until closing at 5pm.

  • Usually, there are fewer people in the museum before 11 am and after 3:30 pm. The relatively quiet days are Tuesday and Wednesday.

  • If you want to visit the museum at another time, you can but we do recommend that you indicate this at least two up to five working days before the visit date. Otherwise, we may not be able to answer your question in time.

  • Yes, it is possible to cancel free tickets. However, please note that paid tickets are non-refundable. We advise our visitors to carefully select their preferred visit date when purchasing tickets
