In this new online magazine, writers reflect on artworks in which physical and mental diversity play a role.
Each writer has a connection to the topic. Personally, as an expert, or through lived experience. Together, they shed light on what often remains invisible, make relatable what is unfamiliar, and normalize what is seen as exceptional. The stories are by turns personal, associative, playful, and historical.
This magazine is part of a larger study into the representation of physical and mental diversity in the collection. The online magazine and the study are made possible in part by the Bartiméus Fonds.
