World’s best female chef Leonor Espinosa gastchef bij RIJKS®
RIJKS® continues guest chef tradition
Publication date: 15 February 2024 - 08:36
RIJKS®, the restaurant of the Rijksmuseum, is once again organizing a series of guest chef events this year. The first in line is chef Leonor Espinosa from restaurant LEO. With this, executive chef Joris Bijdendijk continues the tradition that the restaurant started almost 10 years ago at its inception.
Together with her daughter, sommelier Laura Hernandez Espinosa, chef Leonor Espinosa runs the restaurant in Bogota. LEO's tasting menu takes you on a 12-course culinary journey through Colombia, immersing guests in the country's various ecosystems. The focus is on local ingredients and traditions, and thanks to her dedicated efforts to preserve Colombian gastronomic heritage, Espinosa has become an influential personality in Colombia.
Leonor Espinosa was named World’s Best Female Chef in 2022. Her restaurant LEO in Bogota ranks 43rd on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list and was named number 8 on the Latin America’s 50 Best list
In 2020, Leo was one of the six female top chefs scheduled to cook at RIJKS® that year. We had to cancel the event, due to the pandamic. Now we're picking up where we left off, and we're prouder than proud that after 4 years it's finally happening
