Hendrikje Crebolder, Director of Development & Media, is leaving the Rijksmuseum as of 1 March 2024, having worked here since 2006. She set up the museum’s Development department, which under her leadership generated many sources of income, both domestically and internationally, and nurtured and maintained broad support across society. In 2017, Crebolder became the first female member of the Rijksmuseum Board, alongside Taco Dibbits and Erik van Ginkel. She had great success in this role, connecting the museum with partners and reaching out to worldwide audiences in innovative ways.

With her characteristic enthusiasm and empathy, Hendrikje founded the Development department and grew it into one of the most successful fundraising teams in the Netherlands. What’s more, her commitment to establishing the position of women in society, history and art history, led to the setting up of a research project financed by the fund she initiated: the Women of the Rijksmuseum Fund. We are deeply grateful to Hendrikje for her inspiring and valuable contributions to the Rijksmuseum.

Taco Dibbits, General Director Rijksmuseum

It is with great love that for the last 18 years I have endeavoured to contribute to a Rijksmuseum that is there for everyone. My decision to step down coincides with a time when the museum is looking back on a historic year: never before have we welcomed so many visitors or succeeded in attracting so many Friends, donors, partners and funds. After 18 years at the Rijksmuseum I will be leaving behind a solid foundation. I am departing with great confidence for the future of the museum.
