Wijnglas met bladwerk

anonymous, c. 1725 - c. 1750

The rim of this glass is accentuated by a symmetrically organized band of garlands and foliate motifs. The inscription calls for moderation in alcohol consumption in order to govern well. Translation of inscription: Drinking little and governing well / Keeps the country stocked and well.

    Gewelfde voet. Balusterstam met knopen, schijven en drie luchtbellen. Op de conische, van onderen afgeronde kelk langs de rand band- en bladwerk met rozeten en hangende kelken; eronder het opschrift: WEINIG DRINKEN EN WEL REGEEREN/ HOUT HET LAND IN NOPPE EN VEEREN. Licht kelkvormige voet.
