Wheellock gun

Stephan Schlicke (possibly), c. 1700 - c. 1799

German hunting guns were generally more ornate than Dutch guns. The lockplate of this German weapon shows hounds hunting a deer. Diana, goddess of the hunt, is represented on the cock. On the left side of the stock is a stag rubbing his antlers on trees.
