Uit het verzamelaarsmerk rechtsonder kan worden afgeleid dat de tekening van Watteau ooit deel uitmaakte van de collectie Huquier. De collectie en winkelvoorraad van Gabriel Huquier werd in 1761 in Amsterdam geveild.
