View of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir

Samuel Bourne (signed by artist), 1864

The city of Srinagar lies on the banks of the Jhelum River. Bourne probably took this photograph from the Old Fateh Kadal Bridge. On the right bank is the Shah Hamdan Mosque. The fort on Mount Hari Parbat can be seen in the right background. With this combination of nature and architecture, Bourne here portrayed important landmarks in Kashmir.
