Explanatory note

Prent gaat terug op een schilderij van Nicolas Tournier in de collectie van het High Museum of Art te Atlanta, Georgia, inv. nr. 1986.52. Er zijn evenwel geen andere prenten naar dit ontwerp bekend, wat de vraag oproept hoe het atelier van Visscher toegang kreeg tot dit werk, dat rond 1630 te Toulouse werd vervaardigd. Onderwerp ook opgenomen als nummer 108 in fondslijst van Nicolaes (II) Visscher (ca. 1680) waarin 130 prenten met Bijbelse voorstellingen op royaalpapier beschreven staan.
