Variation on Circles IV

Ad Dekkers (1938-1974), 1965 - 1967

In 1965 Ad Dekkers began to produce reliefs in editions. His intention was to bring expensive works of art within everyone’s reach, for he thought that elitist art should be more democratic. The polyester reliefs were cast in a mould and could thus be produced comparatively cheaply. However, this dizzying arrangement of circles remained an experiment. Only one was made in yellow polyester.
