Untitled

J.C.J. van der Heyden, 1965

Vanderheyden had a keen interest in modern techniques used to reproduce images and data. In this painting, he combined a punch card strip with a greatly enlarged print grid. Up close, the result is a succession of white and black squares. However, if you stand back or look at it through a camera, the image of an eye appears.
