Two men in Walvis Bay

Ed van der Elsken, 1959-08 - 1959-11

Naturally only a small number of the thousands of shots Van der Elsken took on his thirteen-month trip around the world could be included in Sweet Life, which he began working on immediately upon his return to the Netherlands. He did print and mount some of the photographs together with tape, but eventually omitted them. This photograph of two men in Walvis Bay, a port city in Namibia, is one of the ‘rejects’.
