Two designs for hand-screens

attributed to Jean Michel Moreau, c. 1770 - c. 1780

The left-hand screen alludes to music, the right-hand one to the chase. The oval shape of the central field and the nature of the ornamental motifs are characteristic of neo-classicism. Between the two designs, Jean-Michel Moreau, known as Moreau le jeune, has subtly varied all the decorative elements.
