Two Dishes and a Plate

Landscapes with European-looking figures and buildings appear in many variations on Japanese export porcelain meant for the European market. They were probably based on Dutch prints, or Delftware, which may explain why the clouds are depicted in a European manner.

    Bord van porselein, beschilderd in onderglazuur blauw. Op het plat een landschap met drie personen, bomen en heuvels. Op de achtergrond een dorpje en een kerktoren. De binnenrand met een golfpatroon. De buitenwand en rand met drie bloemtakken. Vier proenen binnen de voetring. 'Schevenings bordje'. Arita, blauw-wit.
