A tiger on a rocky outcrop. Japan, 1913. Signed Gekkō; Tanaka Gekkō (1892-?). Ink, colours, lacquer and gold on paper. Here Gekkō depicted a tiger roaring from a rocky promontory. The tail can be seen just under the rock. The tiger is depicted in careful detail, with a delicate brush. The rock is painted loosely, withbroad strokes. Acquired with the support of the Belport Family Foundation.
