Reception of the Dutch ambassador Cornelis Hop by the French king Louis XV, 24 July 1724. By L.M. Dumesnil, 1724. This was the first time an ambassador of the Republic was received at the French court with full ceremony. The 6-year-old Louis XV is standing in front of the throne. Opposite the king is the Dutch ambassador Cornelis Hop, who is about to submit his credentials. The person writing in the foreground is probably Hop's secretary.

Ontvangst van Cornelis Hop als gezant der Staten-Generaal aan het hof van Lodewijk XV, koning van Frankrijk, op 24 juli 1719. De koning, als kind, staat voor de troon, met achter hem de Regent, maarschalk Villeroy en de kardinaal de Fleury. Tussen de Hollandse delegatie, op de voorgrond, de secretaris Ruysch. De ontvangst vindt plaats in het met schilderijen versierde Grand Cabinet de l'ancien appartement d'été van Anna van Oostenrijk in het Louvre.
