Daoist Deity

anonymous, c. 1500 - c. 1600

The modelling of this female deity’s face is particularly delicate and refined. Her clearly articulated clothing has remains of what must have been a rich decoration of gold and polychromy. In her raised hands she holds what may have been a bowl. She was possibly part of a larger group of figures near a central deity.
