Table clock
Janse Boekelts, Jan, c. 1600 - c. 1625
Usually a table clock is housed in a case in order to protect the movement from dust and dirt. Without a case, it becomes clear that it is an extremely refined object of vertu. The work thus had not only a practical function, but was meant to be picked up and admired from all sides.
