Street Seller of Prints

Giuseppe Maria Mitelli (mentioned on object), 1684

All the prints on this wall come from the collection of Simon Emmering and depict the interaction with books and art. This Italian street vendor is selling prints. They all relate to the Ottoman-Venetian war that was then raging. However, people have had enough of the war news: on the left, a man plugs his ears, while on the right, another man flees covering his eyes with his hand.
