Soft Focus Nude I

Erwin Blumenfeld (mentioned on object), 1940

Erwin Blumenfeld ranks among the most versatile photographers: he took delight in experimenting in the studio and the darkroom. For these two studies of nudes he used the targeted projection of a beam of light and the time-honoured soft focus technique. Both photographs stem from his time in Paris (1936-1941), when he worked for the French edition of Vogue, and other clients.
