Sheet of Nine Photographs of Plaster Casts of Architectural Fragments

Édouard Denis Baldus (possibly), 1858

The identity of the person who pasted these nine photographs onto a single sheet is unknown, but in the 19th century it was common to collect images of architectural fragments. This could be simply to document building projects, or as part of art education. Fragments, like those in the pictures, were often photographed at the construction site in the open air before being attached to the facade.
