A woman exchanges tender glances with her husband while nursing their baby. This is a study for a watercolour drawing in the Poëzie-album (Poetry Album) made by Gesina ter Borch to illustrate a poem about harmonious marriages. As a counterpoint, the text was to be sung to the same melody as the poem accompanying Ter Borch’s drawing of a couple quarrelling.
