Ewer and basin. Silver-gilt. Germany?, c. 1600. The scenes of Mercury and Argus on the ewer and of Diana and Callisto and Callisto and Juno on the basin are based on compositions by Paulus van Vianen. On the basin the arms of Brabazon Ponsonby, Earl of Bessborough (1679-1758) and his first wife, Sarah Margetson. Gift of the Committee for Photographic Sales.

    Schaal van verguld zilver. In de brede rand zijn twaalf cartouches gedreven waarvan in zes daarvan goden zijn afgebeeld. Onder andere Diana en Callisto, de smidse van Vulcanus, Mars en Venus in het net gevangen en Callisto en Juno, gedeeltelijk naar composities van Paulus van Vianen. Tevens op de schaal het wapen van Brabazon Ponsonby, Earl of Bessborough (1679-1758) en zijn eerste vrouw, Sarah Margetson.
