Getting started with the collection:
Sacrifice to Priapus
Cornelis Bos, c. 1537 - c. 1555
Beverland owned a large collection of prints, many of which were erotically charged. He used them to illustrate his notes about sexuality. Priapus, an ancient god of fertility, features frequently in erotic prints. Here seven women and a young girl surround a statue of Priapus. Two women anoint the statue and adorn it with flowers.
