Getting started with the collection:
Ruins of the Abbey of Rijnsburg, Large Version
Hercules Segers, c. 1625 - c. 1630
Here the rocks are painted red and the sky blue. The interplay of the printed yellowish white lines and the overpainting yielded a hybrid artwork, a cross between a painting and a print. The varnish was applied later and has browned in the course of time.
