Golden Temple in Amritsar

The Golden Temple in Amritsar, in the northern state of Punjab, is the holiest place in the world for followers of the Sikh faith. The temple is built in a lake. Punjab was the starting point of Bourne’s journey farther to the north in 1864 to photograph the paradise that was Kashmir.

    De Gouden Tempel in Amritsar, gelegen in de noordelijke Indiase deelstaat Punjab, is het belangrijkste heiligdom van het Sikhisme. De Sikh noemen de tempel Sri Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara. De tempel is gelegen in het Sarovarmeer. Punjab was het startpunt voor de expeditie van Bourne naar Kasmir in 1864.
