Poster for Visuele communicatie Nederland

Wim Crouwel, 1969

For this poster Wim Crouwel chose a background of vertical grey lines, inspired by the first experiments with barcodes. The structure of this line system determines the width and spacing of words and letters. Although the poster is difficult to read, it catches the eye and draws attention to the subject of ‘visual communication’ by purely graphic means.
