W.J. Ploy (attributed), 1663. Johannes van Rees (1662 - 1690/91), half-brother of Elisabeth van Oosten, as a child. Oil on canvas. This portrait is traditionally assumed to show a member of the Van Riebeeck family. Jan van Riebeeck (1619 - 1677) arrived at Cape of Good Hope in 1652 and established a supply base for VOC ships sailing to Batavia (Jakarta). The actual identity of the subject is not certain.

    Portret van Johannes van Rees (1662-1690/91), halfbroer van Elisabeth van Oosten, als kind. Staande, ten voeten uit, voor een balustrade, naast een tafeltje waarop een baret met pluimen ligt. In de linkerhand een druiventros, op de vloer ligt speelgoed. Vroeger beschouwd als het portret van een jongetje, wellicht uit de familie van Riebeeck. Pendant van SK-A-807.
