Explanatory note

  • Bij het portret staat zowel 'Tiziane' als 'Retto' vermeld, wat mogelijk wijst op de aangepaste toeschrijving van het schilderij, dat zich in het Palazzi Pitti in Florence bevindt. De toeschrijving aan Titiaan is in de negentiende eeuw verworpen. Sindsdien wordt het portret toegeschreven aan Tintoretto.
