Portrait of a woman

Ed van der Elsken (mentioned on object), 1985-05

Van der Elsken visited Japan about fifteen times. He loved the country, and the Japanese loved (and still do) his work. In 1988 he published the photo book De ontdekking van Japan (The Discovery of Japan) with old and new photographs. Ratatouille Japonica appeared as an appendix, in which he included all kinds of pictures provided with titles and comments on the front. These are three of the original prints for the book.
