Justus de Huybert. Zeeland school, c. 1665. Justus de Huybert (1610-1682) was secretary of the States of Zeeland. The same function he held with the Zeeland Admiralty. Like many prominent contemporaries, Huybert had his portrait painted wearing a Japanese gown, and on his head a skullcap. In the background: the assembly hall of the States of Zeeland in the Abbey of Middelburg.

    Portret van Justus de Huybert (1610-82). Secretaris van de Staten en de Admiraliteit van Zeeland. Kniestuk, gezeten aan een tafel in Japonsche rock, op de tafel ligt een dolk voor een opengeslagen boek met landkaart. Rechts een doorkijk naar de vergaderzaal van de Staten van Zeeland, rechts aan de muur wandtapijten met zeeslagen.
