anonymous, c. 1670 - c. 1690

Kakiemon ware was made between 1670 and 1690 in a highly distinctive style. The decoration is often asymmetric, leaving plenty of space for the white ground. The three sprays on this plate – from left to right, plum blossom, bamboo and pine (known as the ‘Three Friends of Winter’) – have been carefully arranged to achieve a balanced composition, despite the asymmetry.

    Bord van porselein met achtlobbige rand, beschilderd op het glazuur in blauw, rood, groen, geel, zwart en goud met de 'drie vrienden van de winter' (bamboe, prunus, pijnboom) bij gebonden heggen. Op de bamboe een vogel en ook een in de lucht. Bruine rand. Vijf proenen in de voetring. Oud label op de onderzijde met 'Collectie Westendorp/ 3'. Kakiemon.
