Chinese man, staand naar links, tot heuphoogte afgebeeld, met om zijn linkerschouder een groot blik (of een mand?) waar hij pinda's in bewaarde. De blik van de man is ingetogen, op het blik (of de mand) rust zijn linkerhand.

Enkele werken springen eruit, zoals het portret dat hij in zijn laatste leerjaar, 1933, maakte van de Chinese pindaverkoper die destijds regelmatig model stond op de opleiding (afb. 5). In deze tekening oversteeg hij de techniek en slaagde erin niet slechts een model weer te geven, maar ook de man die voor hem stond.'
