Photography Studies

attributed to Frans Straatman, 1946-11-24

Sometimes the piles of curling photographs of a total stranger are simply too interesting to pass up. These studies were made just after World War II by the Groningen salesman Frans Straatman. Little is known about him other than that he could single out the unusual in ordinary situations with drive and a perceptive eye. He was an amateur with a slight surrealistic streak.
