Mantel clock ‘Michelangelo’

Jean-Jacques Feuchère, c. 1849 - c. 1852

Bronze statues of famous figures from the past became very popular in the first half of the 19th century. This clock is conceived as a monument for Michelangelo. The artist is meditating, his arm supported by a statue on which he has been working. His tools lie by him. The ornamentation of the case is in the Renaissance style.
