Pendant of iron and glass

Ferdi, c. 1953 - c. 1955

Ferdi’s jewellery was greatly inspired by the symmetry of insects. From 1954, she exhibited in the Netherlands regularly with other jewellery designers. Her pieces were very popular among Americans and Japanese and worn by a select group of collectors in the Netherlands. In 1956, the Arnhemse Courant wrote that her extremely modern and abstract jewels were characterized by ‘chic through simplicity, as only a Parisienne knows how to do.’
