Parasol

The end of this parasol’s stick, the ivory is carved to look like two twisted gnarled twigs. It shows the influence of realism in art (the preference for realistic depictions), which emerged in the second half of the 19th century.

    Parasol met dek van effen grijs satijn, op een bruin zijden onderdek, licht geschulpte rand. De voering is van effen witte zijde. De ivoren stok heeft een ivoren handvat dat gedraaid is, als het ware twee om elkaar gedraaide knoestige stammen. Dit geldt ook voor de langwerpige knop bovenop. Acht metalen baleinen. Koperen schuif, waarop kleine sterren.
