Antoon seems to have given up photography after leaving Nagasaki. All of his photos can thus be dated to between 1862 and 1866. After that, if he wished to have a picture, he had to buy what other photographers – professionals – deemed worthwhile and saleable. This put him in the same position as anyone else travelling or staying abroad at the time.
