Orchids
Theo van Hoytema (mentioned on object), c. 1900
Theo van Hoytema is known primarily for his brilliantly executed calendar sheets and picture books. His independent prints were issued in much smaller editions and thus only reached a limited audience. The orchids in this lithograph are beautifully set against a delicate pattern of branches and leaves. The print was published in 1905 as part of a portfolio with three other studies of flowers.
