Mountain Valley with a Winding River

Hercules Segers, c. 1622 - c. 1625

For this print Segers once again used the lift-ground technique, in which the representation is drawn directly on the etching plate with a solution of sugar and ink. As a result the etching resembles a pen drawing. Its first owner noted on the back that he had looked at the sheet together with Segers.
