Motel, Hedley, Texas

Steve Fitch, 1981

In his youth Steve Fitch regularly travelled with his father by car from California to South Dakota, where some of his relatives lived. Along the way they visited dinosaur parks and stopped off at neon-lit motels. Memories of these ‘road trips’ surface in the shots Fitch took as a mature photographer. Much of what he photographed around 1980 has vanished in the meantime.
