Model van een schegbeeld op scheg, op een grondplankje. De figuur is een staande man in zeventiende eeuwse kleding, zijn rechter arm opgeheven, de linker op zijn zwaard; het voorwerp dat hij in zijn rechterhand houdt, ontbreekt, evenals zijn zwaard. De scheg is versierd met wapentrofeeën in reliëf, het vloerplankje met bladwerk. De figuur stelt Kortenaer voor.

Entry

Wooden model of a figurehead on the knee of the head, mounted on a base, incomplete. The figure is of a standing man in seventeenth-century dress, his right arm pointing forward, his left hand on his sword. The object that he was holding in his right hand has broken off, as has his sword. With his right foot he is standing on the head of a ram. The knee of the head is decorated with relief carvings of trophies, the base with foliage. The figure represents Lieutenant Admiral Egbert Meeuwsz Kortenaer (1604-1665). Based on a drawing in the collection of the Musée national de la Marine in Paris this design might be by P. Luypen.1Paris, Musée national de la marine, PH 143676.
