Explanatory note

  • Twee molenstenen worden aangedreven door een raderwerk met vliegwiel en twee verfstoffen kunnen dus tegelijkertijd gemalen worden. De molen is uitgevonden door de commandeur der smeden van de Rijkswerf te Hellevoetsluis L. Groeneveld en op de werf geinstalleerd. Cramer was huistimmerman op dezelfde werf en werd voor dit model bevorderd.

Entry

Demonstration model of a double colour mill, which can be operated by one person only, mounted on a base. By means of a crank, a flywheel and gear train, two millstones are driven to grind two pigments simultaneously.

This mill was invented by L. Groeneveld, foreman of the smiths working at the dockyard of Hellevoetsluis, where it was installed. L. Cramer worked as a carpenter at the same dockyard and was promoted for making this model.1HNA 2.12.01 Min. Marine, Exh. 30/12/1842 N10, 2/5/1843 N21 (with drawing).
