Missing Title

W. Eugene Smith (mentioned on object), 1955 - 1956

In 1955 W. Eugene Smith was commissioned to take 100 photographs of Pittsburgh, the Steel City, in just a few weeks. He ultimately worked for two years on the project, taking 17,000 shots. Although he subsequently also printed thousands of photographs, the series was never published in the magnitude Smith had envisioned. The Pittsburgh series is therefore Smith’s grand unfinished project.
